The interviews are designed for us to get to know you and assess your suitability for the role. It’s therefore advisable for you to prepare some examples that showcase your skillset, for example how you’ve met targets in a previous role.

You’ll be asked situation-based (competency) questions, for example: “Could you tell me about a time you had to deal with a challenging stakeholder?”

The best way to answer is to apply the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result):

Situation – Describe the scenario / event / problem you faced - set the scene fully.

Task – Explain YOUR responsibility within the scenario. What did you specifically need to do?

Action – What steps / actions YOU took. If you set tasks for others in this situation, what were they and why did you set them?

Result – What was the outcome of the situation? How did your actions impact this?

If you’re unsure how to respond to what you’ve been asked, please do ask the interviewers to rephrase the question. You can also request to come back to it later in the interview.

When asked about skills or why you want the role, you may struggle to know how to respond. The best thing is to be honest and to focus on the positives. Think of what you’re good at and how you’d apply this to the role. Do you have a strong customer service background? Can you use Excel? Do you enjoy planning team events? Whatever it is, we want to know about it!

At the end of the interview, you’ll be asked whether you have any questions for us. It can be difficult to think of what to ask, but treat this as a two-way conversation for you to find out as much about us as we know about you. So whether it’s about the company’s history or future plans, the team dynamic, what a typical day looks like, or what benefits you’d receive, feel free to ask. Write the questions down and bring them to the interview if you wish.

If your interview is in the office, ensure you allow yourself enough time to travel and park/walk and plan the quickest route. If you’re taking public transport, check and allow for delays.

Visitor parking is available at all sites on a first-come first-served basis, so ensure you have enough time to find alternative parking if there are no available spaces. If you’re not sure what’s in the area, just let us know.

An ideal time to get to your in-person interview is 10 – 15 minutes before the arranged time.

If you’re interviewing via MS Teams, we’ll provided an overview for you. You’ll be sent ‘log in’ details via email, and the meeting can be accessed via the Teams app or website. Teams is free to use, and will work on your phone, laptop, computer or tablet. Please use this link to read through Microsoft’s FAQs.

Once logged in, you’ll see the Join Meeting option (top right option below). You’ll then be asked to type in the ID and Password. This is the long number that you’ll have received. You can copy and paste this into the box, or type it in manually. Next, you’ll be asked for the password – this is always the shorter code you will have received. When you submit the passcode, you will be automatically admitted into the virtual waiting room!

You’ll then see the interview panel on the screen and the interview will commence.

If you’re worried, please feel free to contact your Recruitment Partner - we can arrange a practice call to ensure you are comfortable accessing the meeting on the day of the interview. It’s always a good idea to join the meeting a couple of minutes early, in the same way you’d arrive a couple of minutes before an in-person interview. Remember to take yourself off mute when you’re ready to speak and have your volume level up!

Choose an outfit that you feel comfortable in – we’d recommend smart attire for the interview and a smart-casual approach in the office if successful in securing a role.

Interviews are usually booked in for 1 hour. You may or may not use the full hour, but we like to ensure you have time to comfortably answer the questions and be able to ask your own questions too.

Interview format – a welcome, a chat about you and your experience so far, some competency questions and the chance for you to ask your questions.

Occasionally, some of our roles may require you to carry out presentations – if this is the case, we’ll let you know when we are arranging your interview, so you’ll have at least a few days to prepare fully. You can always ask us if you need any more details.

Communication is key – we understand that life happens, and we are all human. If for any reason you cannot attend your interview or you’re running late, we ask that you inform us as soon as you can. We will then help you and decide what you’d like to do, whether that’s cancelling or amending your interview slot, or helping you with any technical difficulties. If we do not hear from you, we may remove your application from the interview process.

Whether you’re successful at interview or not, you will be notified. We respect you and your time and will get back to you with the decision as soon as we can. If you’re unsuccessful, you will receive constructive feedback.
